For a swing trader, compare XAUUSD overnight financing with the futures cost and rollover structure.
For an automated trader, compare the software ecosystem and network route.
And for anyone using a VPS, match the server to the actual execution infrastructure.
A Chicago VPS makes logical sense for CME Gold futures.
An XAUUSD MetaTrader trader should instead look at where the broker’s MT4 or MT5 trading server is located and choose New York, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, or another region accordingly.
The chart may say “Gold” in both cases.
The underlying market structure is very different.
